Dear new Olim friends,
Here are several important steps you should take upon arriving in Israel to adapt quickly:
- ID card – Upon landing at Ben Gurion airport, you will receive a temporary ID valid for 9 months. It is very important to get a permanent ID card as soon as possible at one of the Ministry of Interior branch offices. You can book an appointment in advance online or by calling *3450. Be sure to bring your immigrant certificate, foreign passport, birth certificate, and any other relevant documents you have.
- Absorption basket – You will receive 7 payments over the first 6 months. Make sure each payment is deposited in your bank account on time. If needed, contact your personal absorption advisor to verify eligibility.
- Health insurance – You must register with one of the four health funds within 90 days of immigration. Compare the coverage and discounts offered by each fund and choose the one that best suits you.
- Ulpan – It is highly recommended to enroll as soon as possible in a Hebrew ulpan near your home. Be sure to choose an ulpan with a convenient schedule for you.
- Absorption advisors – Contact the absorption advisors in your local municipality in the first few days to get initial assistance and guidance on various matters.
- Personal advisor – Make sure you have been assigned a name and contact details for your personal advisor at the Ministry of Aliyah and Integration. Keep them updated on any changes or issues that come up and maintain close contact throughout the entire first year.
I wish you a quick adaptation and successful integration in your new homeland!
